Earthy and elegant: an old world Pinot Noir from one of the coldest appellations in Sonoma County!

2024 Pinot Noir $35

We grow our pinot noir on a 2 acre hillside in deep West Petaluma, an area that is constantly blanketed in fog from the ocean and one of the coldest appellations in Sonoma County (the Petaluma Gap). The grapes here ripen very slowly, giving us a pinot that is very much an ‘old-world’ style: bright acidity, darker blueberry and blackberry flavors, and an earthy nose and finish of forest floor aromas.

2024 was a lovely, mostly non-eventful growing season (thankfully). A powerful heat spike in late June damaged some of the flowers in burgeoning grapes, limiting the potential yields in most of the vineyards of Sonoma County, but the rest of the season was surprisingly mild with cool nights and abundant sunshine during the day with pretty steady temperatures. The pinot from this vintage benefitted from the long and cool harvest season: the wine is light and elegant, full of finesse and dark, brooding flavors.

The Petaluma Pairing: From Our In-House Cheese Shop

The Pinot Noir is a lean, old-world, berry-tinged pinot that asks for cheeses with finesse and weight. Because we own and operate the Petaluma Cheese Shop right inside our tasting room, we've hand-selected pairings that let the wine's red-fruit accents and forest floor notes do the talking:

  • The Match: We recommend a classic and earthy Camembert or a nutty and deeper flavored Aged Gouda or Gruyere to match the dark berry and earthiness.

  • The Experience: Visit our shop counter inside the tasting room and order a cheese board, or ask us about the perfect cheese pairings for our chardonnay.
